GCT 2007
Well chaps,
Its that time of year again, when those with sun tanned sensitive hairless chins (myself now included) need to start sprouting fashionable facial hair for the most important trip of the year, The 2007 Goatee Classic Tour!
As previously discussed, this years format will resemble the Goatee ideal, with lunch in the Sportsman in Ambleside at 12:00 noon on Friday 23 March (That's a week on Friday!!!!) followed by a short drive to the true spiritual home of the Goatee Classic, The Sticklebarn dosshouse, um i mean bunkhouse :).
Friday afternoon's excursion is a 5 mile loop walk including the conveniently positioned Britannia Inn at Elterwater half way round followed by SSS back at the bunkhouse, and into the Sticklebarn for some good food, beer and company along with a few friendly games of pool and possibly a little poker! (Texas hold 'em rules here)
Saturday will start with a wholesome low fat breakfast followed by a 12 mile walk from Sticklebarn, over Side Pike and past Blea Tarn and into Little Langdale before climbing Weatherlam, and weather permitting following on to bag Swirl How and then dropping back into Little Langdale via Wet Side Edge, we then retrace our steps back to the Sticklebarn via The Old Dungeon Gill. Saturday evening activities vastly resemble those of Friday.
Sunday will involve the breakfast of kings at Lucy's where much coffee, free range eggs and ogling of the waitresses will be had :) It will then be on to Gaynor sports etc. for anorak rustling followed by the George Michael goodbyes in the gents toilets in the car park.
It is assumed that Salm will make his own way to Ambleside (mainly cos he has no choice). Alun is also deemed to be making his own way unless he lets us know otherwise! Paulie is coming up to the new GCT HQ on Thursday evening and I assume is picking up Washey on the way, perhaps you could let me know! (Paulie has claimed the spare room bed but I will leave negotiations on that subject to you boys! Mikey will arrive at HQ at approx 8:45am on Friday morning to take his place in the tour bus
So they are the loose plans for the 6th Annual Goatee Classic Tour (the third to be held at the Sticklebarn! 1, 2 and 6) and I for one am very much looking forward to it :)
Look forward to seeing you all next week
Regards

Well chaps, it feels like it is actually going to happen! Graphics ordered for tour bus and finishing touches being put to walk itinerys :-)
Just seen the weather, my knees are hoping for 3ft off snow on the hills so we can do a low level walk. Happy to say the only coat I'll ever need will once more be making the journey. See you all soon.
