Goatee Classic News—December 2006

As I sit here surrounded by children and turkey carcasses, my mind once again wanders to the Lakes and the impending Goatee Classic Tour for 2007.

The 2006 event was a great success in Keswick, with a fantastic ascent of Skiddaw, but the evening entertainment left a little to be desired, so once again we return to the Sticklebarn Bunkhouse in The Langdales for an epic Classic.

The 2007 event has been booked (deposit paid) for Friday 23rd March—Sunday 25th March 2007 inclusive.

Brief itinerary is as follows;

12:00 Friday—Sportsman @ Ambleside

2:00 Friday—Short walk TBA followed by swift beer in Old Dungeon Gill, swift canter back to bunkhouse for s*** , shower and shave followed by beer, food and pool in the hallowed Sticklebarn Tavern—it doesn’t get any better than this :-)

8:00 Saturday—ascent on Weatherlam from Little Langdale, which should keep us occupied for most of the day, then returning into the Langdale Valley for hot chocolate at the Old Dungeon Gill, followed by the main event back at the Sticklebarn Tavern :-)

10:00 Sunday—the king of all breakfasts at Lucy’s in Ambleside, followed by the obligatory anorak rustling in the local outlets (one day, someone may actually buy an anorak, except Alun of course, who already has 247!)

All this followed by the tearful goodbyes outside the gents toilets in the car park (very George Michael!)
